Beat Scene, Issue 70, Spring 2013
This issue is somewhat spotty on Burroughs.
On the rear cover is a reproduction of the Ace edition of Burroughs’ [as William Lee] book Junkie.
At page 9 is an advertisement for the chapbook Milwaukee, which is a memoir of the making of the film Beat by Gary Walkow – there are some interesting Burroughs recollections in this book.
At pages 58-59 is a memorial article on Arthur Knight, who published Burroughs; an image of The Beat Journey, which has Burroughs’ face on its cover, is shown at page 59.
There is also a note on the publishing of Scientologist: William S. Burroughs and The 'Weird' Cult by David Mills [sic, Wills] at page 35, in the "Beats & Co." section.
There are also some mentions of Burroughs in Kevin Ring's "Where Is Liza Williams?", p.43, in the context of essays that Liza Williams wrote about Burroughs published in The Rolling Stone Book of the Beats.
Burroughs is additionally lightly mentioned in David J. Krajicek's essay "The Last Beat", on Lucien Carr, at pp. 46-49, in the context of the David Kammerer murder.
Published in Binley Woods, England by Beat Scene Press in Spring of 2013.
This copy was acquired from Jeffrey Weinberg of Water Row Books (Massachusetts, US).
