Les Inrockuptibles ("Les Inrocks"), Special Edition ("Sur la route avec la beat generation"), 2016























A special edition of Les Inrockuptibles published in concert with the Beat Generation exhibition at Centre Pompidou, Paris, between June 22 and October 3, 2016 and the William S. Burroughs exhibition at the Semiose Galerie, Paris, between June 4th and July 23, 2016. Burroughs mentions and photographs throughout.

Includes a full page reproduction of a Gysin/Burroughs collage from The Third Mind at page 17.

Between pages 40 and 43 is “William S. Burroughs: le roi des junkies” by Philippe Azoury, a biographical article.

Between pages 44 and 47 is “Burroughs peintre-mitrailleur” by Claire Moulène, a brief essay on Burroughs’ painting accompanied by four reproductions of his paintings; a small advertisement for Semiose Galerie and the publication Pleased to meet you: William S. Burroughs begins the article.

At page 52 is a small biography on Brion Gysin, and at page 53 a small biography on Joan Vollmer, in the “Les compagnons de route” section.

In “Visions éclairées” by Vincent Ostria, at pages 58-59, the films of William S. Burroughs are discussed. 

Burroughs’ appearances in Gus Van Sant’s Drugstore Cowboy and A Thanksgiving Prayer and the adaptation of Burroughs’ Naked Lunch by David Cronenberg are mentioned in “The beat goes on” by Vincent Ostria at pages 84-85.
