Beat Scene, Issue 43, Summer 2003

James Birmingham lists the killing of Joan Vollmer as #5 in his list of "Defining Beat Moments", pp. 28-31.

A report from Oliver Harris on a 50th-year celebration at Columbia University of the publishing of William S. Burroughs' Junky, entitled "Junky at Fifty", which includes a brief interview between Oliver Harris and Kevin Ring, is at pages 36-37.

Jim Burns contributes "Kulchur", an essay on the history of the periodical, pp. 38-41 [to note, Burroughs contributes to Kulchur issues 1 and 3, is pictured on the cover of 4, and is mentioned in issues 7 and 15].

At page 58, Colin Cooper reviews Junky: 50th Anniversary Definitive Edition and Naked Lunch: The Restored Text [both edited by Oliver Harris].

Published in Binley Woods, England by Beat Scene Press in Summer of 2003.
